Central American countries to collaborate on tourism

Four Central American countries have held discussions on pursuing a joint tourism promotion initiative.
Representatives from Nicaragua, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador met in the Nicaraguan city of Leon last month to discuss their plans.
One of the initiatives that the countries are hoping to follow up is the creation of a tourist office in Miami, Florida.
This office is set to strengthen the Central American states' efforts to promote themselves in the US market and consequently across the rest of the world.
El Salvador's minister of tourism, Ruben Rochi, said: 'We're going to work out the details on how this office is going to operate.
'It's an important occasion because the United States is the primary market for our four countries.'
Another agreement was signed to ensure that the Central American region is promoted as a viable destination for European visitors, an initiative that will involve the Central American Tourist Agency in Madrid.
