Korean tourism group welcomes Finnair flights
2 Jun 2008
The tourism organisation of South Korea has welcomed a new flight from Helsinki provided by Finnair.
The carrier launched its new direct connection to Seoul from the Finnish capital on 2 June.
Seoul is Finnair's 11th destination in Asia and, according to the Korean Tourism Organisation, will now serve as an important transfer hub between Europe and Asia.
The Scandinavian airline's traffic to the eastern continent has grown six-fold since 2001.
One of the main reasons behind this expansion is the renewal of Finnair's fleet, with two new A340-300 aircraft arriving in 2007 and two more due to come into operation this year.
The flight duration between Helsinki and Seoul is just under nine hours, with the return flight lasting nine hours and 50 minutes. The Finnair route has been scheduled to allow passengers from Seoul to depart in the morning and arrive in Europe by early evening.
