Singapore Airlines boosts A380 flights to Heathrow

2 Jun 2008

Singapore Airlines has announced that it is to extend its A380 service to Heathrow this summer.

The carrier will use the world's largest passenger plane on extra flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

These additional connections will increase the number of weekly A380 services between Singapore and London from seven to 11 and will be available from 16 July, shortly after the airline receives its fifth Airbus A380.

Between 31 July and 9 August, however, there will be a temporary break in A380 flights to London as the massive aircraft is deployed on routes to Beijing during the Olympic Games.

Huang Cheng Eng, Singapore Airlines' executive vice-president of marketing, said: 'Our A380 products have been very well received by our customers and loads on the Singapore-London route have been exceptionally encouraging.

'The deployment of another A380 on this route will cater to continual strong demand from customers travelling between Singapore and London.'
