3 Jun 2008

Stephen Tierney and Claire Tullan from Glasgow, Scotland have become the first couple to get married at the summit of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

BridgeClimb, the company that operates tours of the famous landmark, escorted the couple to the top of the bridge, where they said their vows 134 metres about Sydney harbour.

After signing their marriage certificates, the newlyweds spent the night in one of Sydney's leading five-star hotels.

Claire said: 'I have always dreamt of having my wedding on the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The views from the summit of the bridge were unforgettable.'

Her new husband Stephen added: 'The Sydney Harbour Bridge is the perfect location for a wedding. It is a day I will never forget.'

BridgeClimb Sydney offers two tours of the bridge, both of which visit the summit and last three and a half hours.

The Sydney Harbour Bridge opened in 1932 and is the world's widest long-span bridge.
