Delta Airlines is in the middle of a hectic period of growth that will see it launch nine new international flights in ten days.
One of the highlights of the initiative came on 2 June when the carrier began the first ever non-stop transatlantic service from Salt Lake City, with daily flights going to Paris Charles de Gaulle airport.
The bulk of the development will be based at New York JFK airport, which will host new
Delta flights to Georgetown, Guyana; Cape Town, South Africa via Senegal; Cairo, Egypt; Malaga, Spain; Amman, Jordan and Antigua.
From its largest hub, Atlanta international airport,
Delta will offer a new connection to Stockholm, Sweden and a fourth daily flight to Paris with its joint-venture partner
Air France.
Airline executive Glen Hauenstein said: 'Despite record-high fuel prices, the international marketplace remains strong for
Delta. We're already the no 1 US carrier to Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
'
Delta is an undisputed global leader with an unmatched domestic network and the best positioned hubs. With that, we are able to offer the best travel options for international passengers.'
On 17 July
Delta will become the first US airline to serve three cities in France when it launches a flight from New York to Lyon.
