The recent release of the Sex and the City movie is expected to deliver a positive benefit to the New York tourism industry.
The film was released at the end of May in the UK and the US and the city of New York is almost as important to the movie as its four female lead characters.
Derek Moore, chairman of the Association of Independent Tour Operators, said that the film, combined with the current exchange rate, will serve as a powerful incentive for Brits to visit the Big Apple.
'The recent release of Sex and the City will remind people that New York is an ideal short break destination and will have a positive impact on the city's tourism industry,' he said.
'The strength of the pound against the dollar offers tourists good value at the moment, adding an extra incentive to visit.'
Another major movie being released this year is Australia, starring Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman, which is expected to lead to an increase in the number of film fans visiting the land down under.
