UK firm launches motorised suitcase

26 Jun 2008

A British firm has launched a new motor-assisted suitcase that can reportedly remove most of the effort from carrying heavy luggage.

The product, which was designed by Live Luggage, has powered wheels which come into action at certain times to help users pull their case along.

Motors inside the suitcase are activated when the wheels encounter increases in angle or difficult surfaces.

Another aspect of the product is an 'anti-gravity' handle, which shifts the weight of the case to the wheels.

Live Luggage marketing manager Clive Hemsley said: "Wheelie cases were a great step forward, but they came out 25 years ago, and this is the first real innovation since then.

"Power assistance means no more struggling with heavy cases and no more neck, back or shoulder aches."

The new suitcase can reportedly make contents weighing 30kg feel as if they weigh only 3kg. Customers will have to pay for this privilege, however, as the item has been priced at £700.
