Bmi is planning an expansion to its network in the Middle East with more flights to Saudi Arabia, according to reports.
The carrier is set to focus on increasing the number of services that it currently offers from London Heathrow to the destinations of Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam.
These changes have been made possible by a bilateral agreement between the UK and Saudi Arabian governments which increased the number of permitted weekly services to 35, TravelMole reports.
Nigel Turner, chief executive of
bmi, praised the countries' respective governments for reaching a deal to liberalise their air connections.
He added: '
Bmi has amassed a considerable amount of experience and expertise since we took over services from Heathrow to the Kingdom when they were abandoned by
British Airways in 2005.
'We have committed significant investment in developing our sales and marketing and operational presence in Saudi Arabia and the ability to increase our services presents us with an ideal opportunity.'
Bmi launched a number of new services from Heathrow to destinations in the Middle East and beyond last October.
