BA plans dedicated business check-in at T5

4 Jul 2008

British Airways (BA) has revealed plans for a dedicated check-in desk for business class passengers using Terminal 5 at London Heathrow.

The airline revealed the plans as part of an announcement celebrating 100 days since Terminal 5 was opened.

Business class customers will soon be able to access a new lounge at the Heathrow facility and extra provisions are being proposed to help customers through ticket presentation as they approach security.

The 100 days since Terminal 5 opened, on 27 March, have seen the facility handle almost 5m customers and more than 38,000 flights.

While the launch of the terminal did not go quite as planned, BA chief executive Willie Walsh claimed that the facility is now operating efficiently.

'We have worked tirelessly to improve every aspect of our operational performance and our customers are seeing the benefits,' he said. 'Our punctuality and baggage performance levels are significantly improved on this time last year and check-in queues are much reduced.'

Terminal 5 is currently handling an average of 57,000 passengers a day, a number that is expected to rise to more than 65,000 a day at the height of the summer holiday season.
