Music fans on holidays in Europe this summer will be given plenty of opportunities to see cultural icons in action as both REM and Madonna prepare to embark on extensive tours.
Veteran rockers REM, who have been performing and making albums for nearly 30 years, will be the first to get their travels underway when they play the Bilbao Festival in Spain tomorrow (5 July).
They will then play shows in the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and other locations throughout July and August before heading to the Rock en Seine festival in Paris on 28 August.
REM will be one of the headline acts at this two-day event, along with Amy Winehouse, The Raconteurs, The Streets, Kate Nash, Kaiser Chiefs and others.
Madonna's tour will get underway at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium on 23 August before heading to destinations including Berlin on 28 August, Amsterdam on 2 September, Rome on 6 September and Lisbon on 14 September.
Fans willing to travel a little further to see the queen of pop may be interested in catching up with the US leg of her tour, which will include shows in New York on 6 October, Toronto on 18 October, Chicago on 26 October and many others.
