Thailand is becoming an increasingly popular destination in the luxury travel sector, an industry expert has claimed.
Alyson Cook, editor of Luxury Travel magazine, said the country is attractive to a range of demographics from young travellers and honeymoon couples to baby boomers.
She said that one of Thailand's strengths is its diversity, as it offers a blend of relaxing beach holidays and more adventurous experiences.
Ms Cook also pointed out that the Asian nation offers plenty of boutique hotels, which are important to luxury travellers.
'The boutique hotel market is a growing aspect of what they have to offer in that part of Asia, and that appeals to the baby boomers looking for more privacy and
more understated luxury,' Ms Cook said.
'Thailand has cornered that market. They have also perfected the spa side of the market and that, increasingly, is very high on the luxury travellers' list a decent spa is almost a pre-requisite.'
According to a Luxury Travel survey, Asia will be one of the top tourism growth regions this year, along with South America and Europe.
