IHG to open first Vietnam Holiday Inn
2 Sep 2008
Vietnam is set to have its first Holiday Inn by 2012 following a new development by the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG).
The hotel will be based in the country's capital of Hanoi and will be part of a mixed-development complex along with an upmarket retail and commercial centre.
Dong Da, the district in which the hotel will be built, is close to the city centre and is currently undergoing a number of upgrades and improvements to its infrastructure.
One of the most striking aspects of the new establishment will be its design, which will be inspired by the world heritage site Ha Long Bay and traditional Vietnamese art.
Jan Smits of IHG Asia Pacific said: 'The Holiday Inn hotel is the world's most recognised hotel brand and is preferred by business travellers who need productive facilities and families looking for memorable holiday experiences.
'The Holiday Inn strategically fills a white space, given the increased number of luxury and upscale hotels anticipated to enter the market. With this significant milestone, we are showing our continuing commitment to Vietnam.'
IHG recently announced plans to add close to 1,000 new rooms and suites in South Korea.
