More than 500 events in one night in Copenhagen

2 Sep 2008

The city of Copenhagen will host more than 500 cultural events in one night on 10 October.

Visitors to the capital of Denmark will be able to take part in activities at more than 200 museums, churches, exhibition halls, galleries, political institutions and other venues.

The events organised for Copenhagen's Night of Culture include a walk around the area in the company of the city's Bishop Absalon and Countess Danner.

Tourists will also be able to embark on their own exploration of Folketinget, the capital's parliament building, and meet the politicians and staff.

Rorholmsgade, Copenhagen's street of art, will be open and illuminated all night and guided tours will be given of the Sofie Bath, which was built in 1909.

The Night of Culture is thought to attract more than 60,000 visitors to the Danish capital every year.

People planning on visiting Copenhagen for the event can pick up a Night of Culture pass for 75 kroner (£8) from the city's museums, train stations and tourist offices, which will guarantee free access to public transport for the whole night.
