Most Brits 'plan to be active on holiday'

More than half (54%) of British holidaymakers plan to take part in sports and activities on foreign trips and only a fifth intend to 'do nothing', according to a new survey.
The Cater Allen bank commissioned a survey of more than 1,000 people which found that the traditional lazy beach holiday could be turning into a thing of the past.
More than a quarter (26%) of the people surveyed said they plan to go trekking on holiday, making this the most popular active pursuit among Brits, followed by scuba diving (12%).
Extreme sports are attractive to a significant number of people, with 5% expressing an interest in snowboarding or sandboarding and 3% saying they would like to try white-water rafting.
Cater Allen managing director Richard Dunn said: 'This research shows that Britons are moving away from the traditional European family holidays and becoming more adventurous in their holiday choices.'
A previous survey by the bank found that 63% of British people want to go on long-haul holidays and 20% cite adventure as the main reason for going away.
