Caribbean tourism industry looks to reassure visitors

Caribbean tourism officials are reportedly working towards reassuring potential visitors that the region is safe, following the spate of recent storms that have swept across the Caribbean islands and the Americas.
Recent weeks have seen the formation of tropical storm Fay and hurricanes Gustav, Hanna and Ike.
The storms have had devastating effects in some locations, hitting hotels and airports in the Turks and Caicos islands, Cuba and the Bahamas, and also causing severe flooding in southern American states such as Louisiana.
However, industry officials, such as Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association head Alec Sanguinetti, have informed the public that there are some islands that are unaffected by the storms.
The association has urged local tourism groups to take steps such as broadcasting webcam recordings of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Martinique, Barbados and other locations that were not hit by storms, the Associated Press reports.
Tourism is the Caribbean's primary industry, with more than 15m people heading to the region's beaches and luxury hotels last year.
