P&O Cruises revamps Pacific Sun

16 Sep 2008

P&O Cruises has announced a revamp of its Pacific Sun vessel, which operates south Pacific and Queensland cruises from Brisbane.

The highlight of the multi-million dollar makeover is a child-free spa retreat, which is based on the ship's top sun deck and provides lounges and a new whirlpool spa.

Other new features include an ocean-view gym and coffee bar and a refurbished library, which will be transformed in the evening into a Steakhouse dining area.

The 47,000-tonne ship itself has also been given a new look, repainted with P&O Cruises' classic all-white livery.

Ann Sherry, chief executive of Carnival Australia, which operates P&O Cruises, said: 'The makeover of Brisbane's own Pacific Sun is part of a much wider program to rejuvenate the onboard product offering across our fleet.

'We have overhauled our menus, hired a new executive chef and introduced an exclusive local wine list to keep pace with our passengers' changing tastes.'

Pacific Sun was introduced to the Australian market in 2004 and has capacity to carry 1,900 passengers.
