Tourists offered Canada 'to do' list

26 Sep 2008

The Canadian Tourism Commission has offered visitors to the country a list of things to do based on their destination.

An unusual experience that visitors to Vancouver can enjoy is a night in the city's aquarium. The sleepover includes an evening snack, a bed in the underwater marine gallery, a continental breakfast and the opportunity to wake up to the sight of cruising sharks, whales and dolphins.

Winter sports fans who are visiting the village of Whistler can take advantage of a series of ziplines, some as long as 670 metres, which pass over creeks and forests.

The main attractions in southern Alberta include the ancient rock paintings and carvings at Writing-on-Stone provincial park, some of which are around 6,000 years old.

In Saskatchewan, tourists can visit a new heritage centre in Regina that celebrates all things related to the mountie and offers a host of information on life on the frontier.

Other highlights in Canada include the forthcoming Stratford Shakespearean festival in Ontario and North America's only ice hotel in Quebec.
