Heathrow to serve tea and biscuits to tourists

In a plan to make Britain a more cheerful place, every person flying into the country could soon be offered a free cup of tea and a biscuit, according to reports.
Mark Price, the managing director of supermarket chain Waitrose, has persuaded airport operator BAA to run a week-long trial in November offering tens of thousands of cups of tea to people in the arrivals hall at Heathrow Terminal 5.
The idea behind the scheme is that thoughts of delayed flights, bad weather and tight finances will be diminished by the surprise offering of a nice cup of tea, the Telegraph reports.
Mr Price said: 'What could be more welcoming than a cuppa and Jammie Dodger or Garibaldi? When everyone seems so miserable about the economy, I am sure a cup of tea would put things in perspective.'
Commenting on the type of biscuits that could be used in the initiative, he added: 'I am very fond of a Garibaldi, or bourbon, but neither is a very good dunker.'
The campaign reportedly has the backing of VisitBritain and could be rolled out at airports across the UK ahead of the 2012 Olympics.
