People looking to see in the New Year in style have been urged to buy tickets for this year's Edinburgh Hogmanay party soon as the event is expected to be more popular than ever.
Tickets were launched today (3 October) at a price of £10 per person, or £5 for people who make their reservations quickly and benefit from a special offer.
This year, the street party, which has been voted one of the top 100 things to do before you die, will take place from 9pm until 1am along Princes Street and Gardens, against the backdrop of Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile.
Some 100,000 revellers are set to attend the Edinburgh Hogmanay this year, enjoying everything from candle-lit concerts to traditional ceilidh dances.
Pete Irvine, the event's creative director, said: 'With top name acts and fireworks to make sure we bring in 2009 with a bang, Edinburgh's Hogmanay offers something for everyone as musicians and DJs, across a number of stages, bring the streets of Edinburgh alive with music and an electric atmosphere.'
Steve Cardownie of Edinburgh City Council added: '£10 for a night of music, fireworks and electric atmosphere is a fantastic deal by anyone's standards, so the promotional offer of £5 per pass is definitely one not to be missed.'
