Flybe searches for Ben Becula and Kirk Wall
9 Oct 2008
Flybe has announced that it is searching for people that share the names of two of the new destinations that it will soon be serving in Scotland Benbecula and Kirkwall.
The flights will be part of Flybe's new franchise agreement with Loganair, which will begin on 27 October and serve a number of other regional Scottish destinations from Glasgow airport, including Stornaway, Barra and Campbeltown.
Flybe asked anyone called Ben Becula or Kirk Wall, or with names that mirror any of its new destinations from Glasgow, to contact the airline.
The first people to put their names forward will win free return flights with the airline and also be invited to the official launch of the first franchise flight by Loganair.
Mike Rutter, Flybe's chief commercial officer, said: 'We realise our search for these two namesakes might be a bit of a tall order but we are remaining optimistic that there is someone, somewhere, out there!
'We'd also invite anyone else who thinks they might persuade us why their name should be considered as a realistic and creative destination namesake for any other Loganair destination flown from Glasgow, to also take part in this somewhat quirky search.'
Flybe, which claims to be Europe's largest regional airline, states that its agreement with Loganair will offer passengers a 'diverse and expanded route network with a wide choice of connections'.
