Bmi, Brussels Airlines reach codeshare deal

16 Oct 2008

Bmi and Brussels Airlines have come to an agreement on a codeshare deal that is expected to prove beneficial for corporate passengers travelling to the European business centre of Brussels.

Set to get underway on 26 October, the deal will extend bmi flights to Belgium's capital to four new airports in the UK – Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol.

While these services will be operated by Brussels Airlines, they will be bookable through bmi and will add to the British airline's existing flights to Brussels from Heathrow, Edinburgh, Leeds Bradford and East Midlands.

Peter Spencer, managing director of bmi, said: 'This agreement with Brussels Airlines gives UK passengers travelling to Brussels a great deal more flexibility when planning their journey.

'Business is booming in the European capital and bmi passengers will now have the opportunity to fly to Brussels from regional airports across the UK.'

The airline also confirmed that members of its Diamond Club frequent flyer programme will benefit from the agreement by earning destination miles on the additional services operated by Brussels Airlines.
