Bmi to double flights from Heathrow to Riyadh
16 Oct 2008
Bmi has confirmed plans to double its frequency of flights between London Heathrow and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia from January 2009.
From 15 January, bmi will up its number of weekly flights from Heathrow to Riyadh from three to six, providing a service on every day except Friday.
This connection gives travellers a number of opportunities for connections in Saudi Arabia, with onward flights to Dammam on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, and services to Jeddah on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
Bmi's planned increase in frequencies has been made possible by an agreement between the UK and Saudi Arabian governments permitting extra air services between the countries.
Nigel Turner, the airline's chief executive officer, said: 'We are determined to take full advantage of the headroom that the revised air services agreement has created so as to meet the growing demand we are experiencing.
'The doubling of frequencies to Riyadh will enable us to offer an extremely attractive schedule that will appeal to point-to-point traffic as well as creating a much wider range of connecting opportunities at Heathrow, particularly to and from the USA.'
The new schedule of flights will be operated by an Airbus A330 in a two-class configuration providing lie-flat beds for business customers.
