The winning cities, islands, airlines and hotels have been announced in the 2008 Conde Nast Traveller magazine Readers' Choice Awards, which involved more than 32,000 survey respondents.
One of the big winners was Sydney, which was named the world's top city for the second consecutive year, followed in the list by San Francisco, Florence, Cape Town and Bangkok.
The Pacific hotspot of Maui was voted the world's top island, while the Maldives, Bermuda, Vancouver Island and Mykonos were all ranked top of their respective regional categories.
Tuscany's Il Pellicano was voted the top hotel in southern Europe, followed by the Four Seasons George V in Paris, while the Peninsula in Chicago was ranked number one in the United States.
In the 'transportation' section,
Singapore Airlines was named the best international carrier, followed by
Emirates,
Virgin Atlantic,
Cathay Pacific and Japan Airlines.
Crystal Cruises was voted the top large-ship cruise line, while Holland America, Cunard and Royal Caribbean also appeared in the top ten.
