Five new destinations to join oneworld network
21 Oct 2008
Oneworld has announced that five new destinations will join the airline alliance's network in the new flying season, which starts on 26 October.
American Airlines will bring three new Brazilian destinations onto the oneworld map in November Recife, Salvador da Bahia and Belo Horizonte, all of which will be served from Miami.
British Airways will open the alliance's sixth gateway in India when it begins flying to Hyderabad in December, while Japan Airlines will launch services to Mount Fuji Shizuoka airport when it opens for service in early 2009.
Another development in the oneworld network that will come with the new season will involve upgrades to services between a number of key hubs, which will make it easier for passengers to connect between flights.
Finnair will fly daily between Helsinki and Hong Kong, enabling easier connections with Cathay Pacific services, while Qantas will resume services from Sydney to Buenos Aires, the home of LAN Argentina, after a six-year break.
British Airways will also offer an upgraded connection between two key destinations when it launches flights between London Gatwick and New York JFK to complement its existing New York services from Heathrow.
