BA completes move of services to Terminal 5

24 Oct 2008

British Airways (BA) has completed its move to Terminal 5 at London Heathrow, with a dozen services transferred to the new facility this week.

Destinations that are now served from Terminal 5 include Dubai, Dhaka, Shanghai, Kolkata, Delhi and Chennai.

Flights to Boston, Seattle, Denver, Calgary and Montreal were also moved to Terminal 5 this week, while British Airways' connection to Islamabad, currently suspended following a bomb blast, will operate from Terminal 5 when it is resumed.

An airline spokesman said that the final stage of the gradual transfer of flights to the new terminal had 'gone well', according to the Times.

Long-haul services were relocated to Terminal 5 in a phased operation to avoid the problems that occurred when British Airways first opened the facility in March.

A number of the carrier's flights will remain at other locations around Heathrow, including services to Bangkok, Singapore and Sydney, which will be based at Terminal 4 before moving to Terminal 3 next year.

BA's links to Barcelona, Helsinki, Lisbon, Madrid and Nice will operate from Terminal 1 until January, when they will be transferred to Terminal 3.
