More long-haul flights with Finnair

24 Oct 2008

Scandinavian airline Finnair will launch its winter timetable on 26 October and provide more scheduled flights to long-haul destinations.

The carrier will launch daily flights from Helsinki to Hong Kong this year, compared to the previous frequency of four flights per week.

Finnair's service to Bangkok will also see an almost twofold increase in frequency.

Petteri Kostermaa, the airline's vice president of route strategy and traffic planning, said: 'The twice-daily service on the Bangkok route, which is particularly important for Finns, reflects the popularity of travel to Thailand.'

Other developments in Finnair's winter timetable will see capacity to Lapland increased for the winter and additional flights arranged if necessary.

The destinations of Seoul, South Korea and Yekaterinburg, Russia, which have been served since June and September respectively, will be included in the airline's winter timetable for the first time, while Guangzhou, China and Gdansk, Poland will be removed.

Finnair's winter timetable will operate until 28 March 2009.
