Dubai confident of reaching tourism targets
27 Oct 2008
Dubai's tourism authority has announced that the range of new developments and attractions that will be opening in the emirate over the coming years will enable the destination to reach its target of 15m visitors per year by 2015.
The United Arab Emirates hotspot has recently been showing off its industry products at shows such as the Arabian Travel Market 2008, which saw record crowds.
This event showcased the range of forthcoming additions to the Dubai tourism industry, such as the new hotels that will boost the emirate's room numbers to more than 63,000 by 2010.
Ian Scott, director of the UK office of the Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing department, said: 'Dubai is a destination where you can expect the best; known for its ground-breaking projects the emirate continues to expand its globally acclaimed leisure and business facilities of superlative quality.'
One of the newest additions to Dubai's hospitality industry is Atlantis The Palm, a two-tower luxury development with 1,539 rooms.
The emirate's ambition to become the leading family destination for the UK and Ireland markets by 2012 will be supported by the opening of new projects such as Dubailand.
Housing 24 separate theme parks including Universal Studios and Marvel Entertainment parks Dubailand will be one of the world's largest leisure attractions, twice the size of Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
