Watch Shakespeare in unique Sydney festival

28 Oct 2008

With the cold and rainy season well and truly upon us, heading to Australia for a southern hemisphere summer break may be tempting for some.

Sydney is arguably the cultural capital of Australia, with an events calendar full to bursting in the summer months.

In January, a special treat comes to the city's Bicentennial Park for all those who enjoy the works of Shakespeare.

The Sydney Shakespeare Festival is returning after a hugely successful debut this year, and from 8 January to 15 February performances of Macbeth and Comedy of Errors will be showing under the glorious Australian sunshine.

With a backdrop of Sydney Harbour and the city skyline, it is a truly unique experience, and one the organisers of the event claim to 'magical, accessible and historical'.

The event takes place around the time of Australia day, when the country comes alive in celebration – making it the perfect time to visit.

For a unique celebration of Australia, Sydney is the place to be in early 2009.
