Celebrate shopping in Dubai

With Dubai being one of the Middle East's, if not the world's best shopping city, it is no surprise it has a festival celebrating it.
From January to February every year the city celebrates the Dubai Shopping Festival which sees reductions on almost everything from jewellery to carpets.
Over two million people descend on the city every year for the huge event, which is sponsored by Dubai Duty Free.
As well as the obvious discounts, there is international theatre, fashion shows, fireworks and laser displays, handicraft shows, film festivals and children's events all encompassed.
From Arabic coffee pots to traditional carpets from Afghanistan as well as gold, spices and furniture, it is a huge feast of materialism.
There are also the obvious designer clothing boutiques, as well as traditional old markets that offer great deals.
If you are looking for an alternative to a crowded Oxford Street in next year's January sales, Dubai may just be it.
