Virgin launches second route to Hong Kong

29 Oct 2008

Airline giant Virgin has launched a second service running between London Heathrow and Hong Kong.

The route will see flights go on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays until a full daily service launches from 4 December.

It will use an Airbus A340-600 and depart from Terminal 3 and at 4pm, arriving at 12:30pm the following day.

Return flights will operate from Hong Kong on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays from 29 October until daily operation runs from 5 December.

Steve Ridgeway, chief executive of Virgin Atlantic, said: 'We have long dreamed of adding another service to this ever-popular route, particularly since the launch of Sydney flights in 2004, and are thrilled to see it become a reality.

'This second daily service will offer our passengers even more opportunities via Hong Kong, which is the third busiest long-haul route out of Heathrow.'

Virgin currently flies to 30 destinations from Heathrow and Gatwick, including Dubai, New York, Orlando and Sydney.
