Dubai developments 'keep it ahead of competition'

6 Nov 2008

Dubai's Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has claimed that the emirate is 'ahead of the competition' in the travel industry owing to the rate at which it pursues new developments.

The DTCM said that it will showcase a 'staggering array' of new projects at this month's World Travel Market in London.

Over the last 12 months Dubai has played host to the opening of new projects such as Atlantis the Palm, which boasts more than 1,500 rooms and attractions including the Aquaventure water park.

Another new addition to the emirate this year was the boutique Desert Palm hotel, which is located in a polo estate in the Dubai desert.

Ian Scott, UK director of the DTCM, said: 'The secret of Dubai's success is a real commitment to developing a world-class leisure and business offer for discerning travellers.

'As a destination, Dubai is establishing clear ground ahead of the competition and attracts an ever-increasing number of visitors drawn by the emirate's unparalleled visitor experience.'

Next year, Dubai will boast another iconic structure when the Burj Dubai tower opens and assumes the status of the world's tallest building.
