The Austrian Tourist Office has released a winter newsletter offering a guide to the forthcoming events and developments in the country's tourism industry.
One of the main reasons that many people will be visiting Austria over the coming months is to go skiing or snowboarding, with many of the country's winter resorts already open.
With 80cm of snow laying on its slopes, Obergurl began its season today (14 November) with the launch of 'Cirques des Montagnes La Passion', a series of events.
Visitors will be treated to live music concerts, comedy performances, art exhibitions, dance shows and other events.
Even more fresh powder is currently on offer on the Hintertux glacier, which has seen 120cm of snowfall. Another attraction at this location is the Ice Palace a structure made entirely of ice forms and frozen crystals set in stunning scenery.
Another of Austria's top skiing areas, Nassfeld, will begin its season on 29 November.
One of the winter highlights for this destination will come in the form of the University of Snow on 12 to 14 December, an event that will include airboarding, snow-biking and an MTV party.
