Travellers urged to explore New York state

As part of its strategy to attract holidaymakers to the entire state of New York rather than simply its capital city, the New York State Division of Tourism has published a list of 'fast facts' to pique visitors' interest.
New York state covers an area the size of France and comprises 11 different regions.
More than 133m tourists visit New York every year to see natural attractions such as the 4,000 lakes, ponds and streams and nearly 200 state parks and historic sites.
There are more than 400 golf courses to attract sports fans, while those who prefer more sedate activities may be interested in visiting the state's more than 150 wineries.
Travellers who like to sample the culture of their holiday destination can choose from more than 1,300 museums and galleries, 64 performing arts centres and 230 theatres in New York.
The New York State Division of Tourism launched its initiative to attract visitors to the entire state at this month's World Travel Market, where it unveiled its new brand logo that depicts the broad range of experiences on offer in the region.
