Dubai has been named the world's best holiday destination and the leading cruise port at the final World Travel Awards ceremony of the year.
Held on the Turks and Caicos Islands on 2 December, the event was the result of a voting process involving 167,000 travel professionals worldwide.
Dubai's Burj Al Arab picked up the leading all-suite hotel award, while Singapore Changi was voted the world's leading airport and
Singapore Airlines was named the best air carrier.
Other airlines to receive accolades included Qatar Airways (leading business class carrier),
Etihad Airways (leading first class carrier) and
Air Berlin (leading budget carrier).
Royal Caribbean International took the top cruise line award and Eurostar was named the world's best rail service.
People looking for a beach holiday may want to look at the Turks and Caicos Islands, which is home to Grace Bay, the winner of the leading beach award, while the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island was voted the top beach resort.
