P&O Cruises ship gets new cabins and cinema
3 Dec 2008
P&O Cruises' liner Arcadia is currently undergoing a multi-million pound refurbishment, the highlights of which are new cabins and a 'boutique' cinema.
A total of 34 new staterooms will be added to the ship as part of the refit, which is being carried out at the Lloydwerft shipyard in Bremerhaven, Germany.
The new rooms will boast private balconies and will be located to the aft end of the ship, an area that will also be improved with an enlarged deck and a stylish new bar.
Offering 30 seats, the cinema will provide a dedicated space for showing films onboard. It will take the place of an internet access area, but a wireless web network will still be available on the vessel.
P&O Cruises managing director Nigel Esdale said: 'This is Arcadia's first major refurbishment since she joined the fleet in April 2005 and we are taking the opportunity to enhance and improve the features of this already very successful child-free ship.
'The work that we are undertaking will add to Arcadia's contemporary charm and she will emerge with even more facilities to surprise and delight her passengers.'
Arcadia will return to port at Southampton later this month ready to embark on a 16-night Mediterranean cruise on 20 December.
