Eurostar Avignon trips on sale this month

12 Dec 2008

High-speed rail operator Eurostar will put its summer 2009 services from London to Avignon in the south of France on sale from 23 December.

The company will operate a weekly direct service connecting St Pancras International and Ashford International stations to Avignon from 11 July to 5 September.

With a duration of less than six hours from London and under five and a half hours from Ashford, the journey will take passengers close to the Provence city's walls, which surround its historic centre.

Located on the banks of the Rhone river, Avignon also provides a base from which to see mountainous landscapes and visit castles and vineyards.

Eurostar director of communications Simon Montague said: 'This service is very popular year on year as our travellers greatly appreciate the seamless, comfortable and environmentally friendly journey to Provence.

'Our fares are unchanged since summer 2008 and there are no hidden costs such as surcharges and taxes.'

Avignon is one of 60 French destinations available to passengers who travel to Paris with Eurostar and connect to the country's TGV rail network.
