Celebrate literature at Scotland's Book Festival
5 Jan 2009
The city of Glasgow will be a popular destination among lovers of literature in March this year when it hosts the Aye Write! Bank of Scotland Book Festival.
Arranged as part of the Homecoming Scotland 2009 year of events, the festival will take place in Glasgow between 6 and 14 March.
Alan Bennett, one of Britain's most popular writers and the creator of the Talking Heads series, will appear at the festival, along with Scottish television presenter Lorraine Kelly.
Novelists including Robert Fisk, AL Kennedy and Booker Prize-winning Graham Swift will also feature at the event, along with Joan Bakewell, who will launch her first book, a wartime romance entitled All the Nice Girls.
The Ay Write! Book Festival is designed to celebrate the full variety of Scottish writing and also bring leading figures from international literature to Glasgow.
Now in its fourth year, the event takes place at the Mitchell Library in the heart of the city.
