Austrian expands capacity to Dubai
8 Jan 2009
Austrian Airlines has announced plans to increase capacity on its flights to Dubai this year.
From 1 March, the carrier will use a Boeing 767 with 235 seats to operate more than half of its flights between its Vienna base and Dubai.
This development represents an increase of almost 20% in seating capacity as, until now, Austrian has used medium-haul aircraft to fly to the emirate.
Business class services will see an even greater expansion as Austrian Airlines will offer up to 120 business seats a day on its route between Vienna and Dubai, twice as many as before.
The flights that are not operated by a Boeing 767 will be flown by an Airbus A320, offering a premium service including sleeper seats with an integrated massage function and reading lamps.
To coincide with the introduction of extra capacity to Dubai, Austrian is launching a special offer of return flights from Vienna for 499 (£450), or 599 with a feeder flight into Vienna included.
