Carnival to entertain Nice visitors

Holidaymakers visiting the south of France in February will be able to enjoy some unique entertainment when the Nice Carnival gets underway.
Celebrating its 125th edition this year, the carnival will take place between 13 February and 1 March.
The theme for the 2009 event is masquerade and concealment, meaning that visitors will be able to marvel at the sight of carnival-goers wearing masks and flamboyant fancy dress.
Artists from some of the world's leading newspapers have been recruited to give the carnival a cartoonish style that will be evident in its many events and public displays.
The programme of activities includes flower processions and light parades on most days of the carnival, as well as a free fireworks show to bring the celebrations to an end on 1 March.
Visitors can gather at some of Nice's most popular central areas to see carnival events, including the Place Massena and the Promenade des Anglais.
