Former home of Bruce Lee to become a museum

12 Jan 2009

The former Hong Kong home of action movie star Bruce Lee is to be turned into a museum.

Currently owned by millionaire Yu Panglin, the mansion in Hong Kong's Kowloon Tong area has to date been used as a hotel.

The refurbishment will see the building turned into a tourist attraction featuring a cinema that will show Lee's films, a library and a martial arts centre.

Visitors could also get the chance to see some of the star's personal items, such as his film costumes, thanks to donations from his family.

Michael Choi, who is assisting the property's current owner in his negotiations with the government, told the AFP news agency: 'Since Yu decided to withdraw his plan to sell the mansion in July last year, the government had been considering the feasibility of a conservation plan.

'Both sides reached a consensus on restoring the property to Lee's days and turning it into a tourist attraction.'

Lee became an international action movie star when he appeared in films such as Enter the Dragon and Fist of Fury. He died in 1973 at the age of 32.
