Scotland was named golf destination of the year at a recent industry awards event held by Today's Golfer magazine.
The country took the top accolade ahead of the Algarve in Portugal and Ireland, which were placed second and third respectively, according to VisitScotland.
Malcolm Roughead OBE, director of visitor engagement at VisitScotland, said he was 'delighted' that the country had been named golf destination of the year by such a 'prestigious magazine'.
He added: 'Scotland is the home of golf and it provides golfers with the ultimate golfing experience that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
'With the return of the Open Championship to Turnberry this year in July it is extremely important for us to capitalise on the opportunity this presents to promote Scotland as the no 1 golfing destination.'
Scotland boasts more than 550 golf courses spread all over the country.
It will host a number of major golf events this year, including the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles in August.
