Cooperation begins between Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa

16 Feb 2009

Brussels Airlines and Lufthansa have launched a new cooperation agreement as part of the process that will see the Belgian airline become part of the Star Alliance network.

One of the perks of the collaboration for the airlines' customers is access to lounges owned by both companies.

Lufthansa's Senator and business class lounges around the world will be open to Platinum members of the Belgian carrier's frequent flyer programme.

In turn, members of the German airline's Miles and More scheme will be able to use Brussels Airlines' lounges, while Senator and first class travellers will have access to the airline's facilities in the Belgian capital.

Passengers will soon have the option to combine the fares of the two airlines on cross-border flights and possibly take advantage of a codeshare agreement covering large sections of their respective networks.

Lufthansa and the other existing members of the Star Alliance network, including Singapore Airlines, US Airways and Swiss, offer more than 16,500 daily flights to 912 destinations in 159 countries.
