Iberia moves to new Heathrow terminal

17 Feb 2009

Spanish airline Iberia has announced that it is now based at the refurbished Terminal 3 at Heathrow airport.

All of the carrier's services will now take off and land at the facility, including flights to Madrid and Barcelona operated as part of its partnership with British Airways.

One of the biggest benefits of the move for passengers will be easier connections between Iberia flights and services provided by its oneworld airline alliance partners.

Qantas, Finnair, Royal Jordanian, Cathay Pacific and American Airlines are based at Heathrow Terminal 3 alongside Iberia, while British Airways continues to operate the majority of its flights from Terminal 5.

People travelling with the Spanish airline will find its check-in facilities, including four auto check-in machines, in zone F of the terminal building.

Iberia claims to be Spain's leading airline and the market-leading provider of flights between Europe and South America.

The carrier is currently in the process of negotiating a merger with British Airways, a final decision on which is expected over the coming weeks.
