Celebrity Cruises to 'soft-launch' new ship in Norway

Celebrity Cruises has announced that construction of its new ship Celebrity Equinox is 'proceeding so well' that the vessel will be given a 'soft-launch' in Norway prior to its maiden voyage on 8 August.

The preliminary launch will set off from Southampton on 31 July for a cruise through the Norwegian fjords.

Lasting eight nights, the itinerary will take in the ports of Stavanger, Flam, Geiranger and Oslo.

Celebrity Cruises also announced a special offer giving its customers the chance to combine the Norwegian cruise with Celebrity Equinox's inaugural sailing in August, which will visit Cherbourg, Barcelona, Rome and other destinations.

Facilities on the new vessel include a range of entertainment and dining venues, a half-acre lawn club with real grass and even a glass-blowing studio.

In addition to its European itineraries, Celebrity Cruises offers journeys in Alaska, Australia, the Caribbean, South America and other regions.

The Celebrity cruise liners Constellation, Summit, Millennium and Infinity all featured in the top ten of Conde Nast Traveller magazine's recent 'top cruise ships in the world' poll.
