25 Feb 2009

East Midlands airport will be one of the exhibitors at the Destinations travel show at the Birmingham NEC this weekend, where it will be showcasing its summer flight options.

One of the main focuses of the promotions will be the airport's connections to India, which will be available via bmi flights to Brussels on every day except Saturday.

Travellers can fly to Brussels from East Midlands to access connections to the cities of Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi and Chennai.

The airport will also be offering new flights to popular summer holiday destinations including Almeria, Mahon and Ibiza, as well as Oslo, which will be served by Eastern Airways via Aberdeen.

Caroline Plant, East Midlands airport's marketing director, said: 'We are delighted to be exhibiting at one of the most high-profile travel shows and are excited about the great routes and offers we have in store for our customers in 2009.

'As well as the welcomed addition of the popular Mediterranean routes of Almeria and Mahon, we are pleased to be extending our long-haul offering with our new regular connection to India.'

East Midlands airport handled more than 5.6m passengers in 2008, making it the busiest year on record for the hub.
