Virgin Atlantic and
South African Airways (
SAA) have announced an extension to their codeshare agreement on flights to Cape Town from London Heathrow.
Passengers with
Virgin Atlantic will now be able to book with the airline to travel on the South African carrier's services.
Furthermore, travellers can now book with
SAA to travel on
Virgin Atlantic's flight from Heathrow to Cape Town, which operates on a daily basis from October to March and three times a week in April.
The new bilateral agreement extends a codeshare deal set up in October 2004 that allows passengers on
Virgin Atlantic's flights to Johannesburg to connect to
SAA services to Durban, Port Elizabeth, East London and Cape Town.
Jason Krause,
SAA's head of business development, said: 'This is a great opportunity to share our warm African welcome with
Virgin Atlantic's passengers on the Cape Town-London route and to offer our passengers more flexibility being able to book on another carrier.
'We are pleased to be building on our long-standing relationship with
Virgin Atlantic by increasing our services to the UK and back while upholding
SAA's quality of service to its customers.'
Virgin Atlantic is launching its new carrier V Australia this week, which will fly between Sydney and Los Angeles and enable travellers to book round-the-world trips with the airline.
