The tourist board representing the Alsace region of France has announced details of two new luxury hotels opening this year.
Both of the properties are housed at sites of historical interest, with the Hotel Couronne d'Or located in a medieval castle 20 minutes from Strasbourg.
This property, situated next to the vineyard of Scharrachbergheim on the Alsace wine route, will open as a 48-room luxury hotel in April following a major refurbishment of the castle and its outbuildings.
Facilities at the hotel will include a restaurant, a swimming pool and a health centre.
The Hotel Cour du Corbeau is a half-timbered house located in Strasbourg in a former inn built in the late 16th century.
Set to open in May, the hotel will offer 57 rooms ranging from standard to deluxe.
Both hotels are owned by the Sogeho Group, which is also developing another chateau in Niedernai to open as a luxury hotel and spa in 2010.
Located on France's eastern border with Germany, the Alsace region is famous for its wine route, historic towns such as Colmar and the picturesque Vosges mountains.
