Royal Caribbean promotes Mediterranean cruise

27 Feb 2009

Royal Caribbean International has urged travellers to 'guarantee some sunshine this year' by sailing on its 14-night cruise to Italy and the Mediterranean.

The itinerary is operated by the vessel Independence of the Seas and has prices starting from £1,876 per person based on two sharing an inside cabin.

Setting off from Southampton, the cruise will call at Vigo in Spain, Lisbon in Portugal and Gibraltar before heading to Cagliari on the Italian island of Sardinia.

Cruise passengers will then be taken to Rome, Florence, Cannes and Seville before returning to Southampton.

Royal Caribbean's Independence of the Seas is the largest ship ever to be based at a home port in Europe, with capacity for more than 3,600 passengers at double occupancy.

It is part of the cruise line's Freedom class of ships, along with Freedom of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas.

Royal Caribbean will soon launch its revolutionary Oasis of the Seas, which will boast different 'neighbourhoods' with varying themes and other facilities across 16 decks.
