Eurostar has announced that its recent return to a full service through the Channel Tunnel has brought with it a punctuality rate of almost 95%.
During the fortnight ending 8 March, 94.7% of the high-speed rail provider's trains operated within 15 minutes of their schedule, ahead of the overall target of 93% for the year.
The period represented Eurostar's first two weeks of operating a full timetable since the fire that occurred in the Channel Tunnel last September.
Richard Brown, chief executive of the company, said he was 'really pleased' that operations are back up to full speed and delivering the 'reliable service that travellers want'.
He added: 'It means business travellers can rely on Eurostar for short journey times, convenient city centre stations and a reliable service that gets them there and back without staying overnight.
'For leisure travellers, high-speed rail's the best way to escape and have an adventure in European cities that are so different, yet so close to home.'
Eurostar is launching an initiative this year enabling passengers to buy tickets for the Paris and Brussels public transport systems onboard its trains.
