Record Michelin rating for Copenhagen

17 Mar 2009

VisitDenmark has celebrated the achievement of Copenhagen's restaurants in this year's Michelin Guide, with a record 14 stars awarded to the city's dining establishments.

The Danish capital's rating in the 2009 guide to gourmet cuisine placed it ahead of other European cities including Rome, Berlin, Vienna and Madrid.

A number of establishments received Michelin stars for the first time this year, including Restaurant Herman at the Hotel NIMB in Tivoli Gardens and Restaurant Kokkeriet in the Nyboder district.

Tivoli Gardens now boasts two Michelin-starred restaurants, which is reportedly a unique achievement for a theme park.

The only eatery in Copenhagen to receive two stars in this year's Michelin guide is Noma, which specialises in creating new interpretations of traditional Nordic cuisine.

Travellers planning a visit to the Danish capital this year can also take advantage of cultural offerings at venues including the new Konserthuset hall and the Copenhagen Opera House.
